How Plentum compares to other dog supplements

Chews, scoop powders and sachets all have a place. Here is a plain look at format, label transparency, testing and cost per day, so you can pick what suits your dog.

Format

Sachet, chew or scoop: what changes

Each format suits some households. Here is how they differ day to day.

  • Sachet powder

    Plentum

    • A sealed, pre-measured dose, so no scooping and no guessing
    • Stirs into food, with nothing to chew and no binders to hold it together
    • Easy to carry for travel
    • Your dog needs to eat the meal it is mixed into
    • More packaging per serving than a tub
  • Soft chews

    Common alternative

    • Treat-like, so many dogs take them happily
    • Often the lowest price per day
    • Chews need binders, flavors and sometimes sweeteners
    • The dose is per chew, and active amounts are often smaller
    • Dogs on a weight plan get extra calories
  • Scoop powders

    Common alternative

    • One tub lasts a while for a small dog
    • Flexible dose by weight
    • Scoop size varies, so the dose can drift
    • The tub is opened every day, so moisture and air get in
    • Large dogs use a tub quickly

Label transparency

Five things to check on any dog supplement label

Use this on any product, ours included.

  1. Amount of each ingredient

Is every dose printed, or hidden inside a blend total?

  2. Strains named, CFU stated

The strain names and a live count, instead of a bare “probiotics”.

  3. Serving by dog weight

A clear dose for your dog’s size.

  4. Binders, flavors, fillers

Know what else is in the serving besides the actives.

  5. What the studies cover

Was the ingredient studied, or the finished product? These are not the same.

What testing looks like at Plentum

    • Made in an FDA-registered facility in Canada
    • In-house lab accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017
    • Every lot tested for Salmonella, E. coli, coliforms, S. aureus, molds, water activity and live probiotic count
    • A Certificate of Analysis with every lot
    • Made following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
    • Every sachet weight-checked during the sachet line ramp-up
  • Microbiome Care

    • Made in the USA
    • A Certificate of Analysis for each lot
    • A postbiotic ingredient studied in published dog trials*
    • Vet formulated, like every Plentum formula

* The studies tested the ingredient, not the product. The Plentum product itself is not clinically tested. See quality and testing.

Cost per day

What a day costs, in bands

Typical ranges from public listings, checked Oct 2026. Prices change and every dog is different, so read these as a guide.

  • Plentum sachets $1.17 to $5.00 One-time price of a 30-day supply, divided by 30. Smaller dogs sit at the low end and larger dogs at the high end.
  • Soft chews $0.37 to $1.67 Chews are often the cheapest per day. Cost climbs with dog size because you give more chews.
  • Scoop powders $0.50 to $2.00 Tubs list many servings, but a scoop scales with weight, so large dogs use them faster.
  • Single-strain vet probiotic sachets $1.00 to $1.13 One strain, one job, usually given for a short course.

Some chews cost less per day than Plentum. What you get differs: a sachet gives a printed dose with no binders. A cheaper product can still be the right call for your dog.

How we priced the categories

Per-day figures are list prices from each brand's own product page, divided by the number of servings or chews in the pack and multiplied by the daily amount that page gives by dog weight. They are examples, not a survey, and prices change. We list only pages we opened and read. Sale and subscription prices are not used.

Soft chews

Scoop powders

  • Native Pet Probiotic: 60 scoops at $29.99; 1 scoop a day per 50 lb, so about $0.50 a day for a dog up to 50 lb and $1.00 for a dog up to 100 lb. Checked October 2026.
  • Native Pet Power Poop: 60 scoops at $29.99; 1 scoop per 25 lb a day (1 to 4 scoops), so about $0.50 to $2.00 a day. Checked October 2026.
  • Native Pet Stress Support: 60 scoops at $29.99; 1 scoop per 25 lb a day, so about $0.50 a day for a dog up to 25 lb, rising with weight. Checked October 2026.

Single-strain probiotic sachets

Sachet prices are per sachet because the pages we read do not give a by-weight daily amount. Some products cost more per day for large dogs than the band shown above. We did not include listings we could not open and read.

If your vet recommends a live probiotic

Gut Restore is our live probiotic course

A proprietary probiotic blend, 10 billion CFU including S. boulardii, with fiber. Plan on a 30 to 60 day routine.

Your questions

Is a sachet better than a chew?

Not always. Chews are easy to hand over and many dogs love them. A sachet is a different trade-off: nothing to chew, a measured 2 g dose, and no binders to hold a chew together. Pick the format your dog will actually take every day.

Do powders and sachets work as well as chews?

The format does not decide how a supplement works. The ingredients, the amounts and how steadily you give it matter more. Read the label for what is inside and how much, whatever the format.

What should I look for on any dog supplement label?

The amount of each ingredient per serving, the probiotic strains by name, the CFU count, a clear serving size by dog weight, and the other ingredients such as binders, flavors and fillers. If a label hides amounts inside a blend, you cannot compare it.

How are Plentum formulas tested?

Our four newest formulas are made in an FDA-registered facility whose in-house lab is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Every lot is tested for microbial limits and live probiotic count, and ships with a Certificate of Analysis. They are made following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Microbiome Care is made in the USA and ships with a Certificate of Analysis per lot.

Is Plentum clinically tested?

The postbiotic ingredient in Microbiome Care has been studied in published trials in dogs. The product itself has not been clinically tested. We say the first and not the second.

How is the cost per day worked out?

For Plentum we divide the one-time price of a 30-day supply by 30, so it follows your dog’s size. For other formats we show a typical range from public listings checked Oct 2026. Prices change, so treat the ranges as a guide, not a quote.

Which Plentum formula should I start with?

Microbiome Care is the everyday base. Gut Restore, Calming Care, Itch & Immune Care and Metabolic Care each focus on one job. Our one-minute quiz matches your dog to a formula.
