Quality you can check

Tested. Every batch.

Every lot of our newer formulas is tested in an accredited lab, and every lot comes with a Certificate of Analysis. Here is what we check, in plain words.

  • ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited labTested in CanBiocin's in-house lab, accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. See the SCC listing
  • FDA-registered facilityMade by CanBiocin in Edmonton, Canada.
  • Made following cGMPCurrent Good Manufacturing Practices, stated on every Certificate of Analysis.
  • Salmonella

A germ that can make pets and people sick. Every lot is checked to make sure none is found in a 25 g sample.

    Spec: Absent in 25 g

  • E. coli and coliforms

Common gut bacteria. High counts can point to a hygiene problem, so we make sure they stay under tight limits.

    Spec: E. coli < 10 · coliforms ≤ 100 CFU/g

  • Staph aureus

Another germ we keep out. Counts must stay under 25 per gram.

    Spec: < 25 CFU/g

  • Moulds

We count moulds and make sure the powder stays well within the limit.

    Spec: ≤ 100 CFU/g

  • Water activity

Dry enough to stay stable. Less free moisture means less for anything to grow on.

    Spec: < 0.30 aw

  • Live probiotic count

We count the live cultures in every lot. CFU means colony-forming units, or live cells.

    Spec: ≥ 1 billion CFU/g (≥ 2 billion per 2 g sachet)

  • Appearance

Colour, smell and texture are checked by eye and nose: a fine, free-flowing beige powder.

    Spec: Fine, free-flowing beige powder

  • Certificate of Analysis for every lot

Every lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis from the lab. The first-lot results are just below.

    Jump to the results

Applies to Gut Restore, Calming Care, Itch & Immune Care and Metabolic Care. Microbiome Care is made in the USA by Vets Plus, with a Certificate of Analysis for each lot.

The results

First-lot results, test by test

Spec is the limit each lot has to meet. Result is what the lab measured on our first lot of each formula.

CFU means colony-forming units, a count of live cells per gram. aw is water activity: a 0 to 1 scale for how much free moisture a powder holds. Blend dates for these first lots ran from 18 to 25 August 2026. The Microbiome Care lab panel isn't shown here: that formula is made by Vets Plus in the USA and has its own Certificate of Analysis for each lot.

How we test, in plain words

The lab uses published Health Canada Compendium methods, the same reference methods used across the food industry.

Germs we keep out

Salmonella (MFHPB-20), E. coli and coliforms (MFHPB-34) and Staph aureus (MFHPB-21): each lot is cultured and checked against its limit.

Moulds and dryness

Mould counts (MFHPB-22) and water activity (MFLP-66) show the powder is clean and dry.

Live probiotics

A plate count (MICB-611) of live cells per gram, plus a check of appearance, colour and smell.

How we make it

  1. Made in CanadaBy CanBiocin in Edmonton, Alberta, in an FDA-registered facility.
  2. Made following cGMPCurrent Good Manufacturing Practices, as stated on every Certificate of Analysis.
  3. Every sachet weighedWhile our new sachet line ramps up, each sachet is weight-checked on a balance before boxing.
  4. Every lot testedTested in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited lab, then shipped with its Certificate of Analysis.

The summary above is on this page. The full Certificate of Analysis for a lot is available on request through our support team.

What's next

We're working on adding independent third-party heavy-metal testing and stability studies. These are plans, not results, so we don't claim them yet. We'll share them here when they're done.
