Cost per day is the pack price divided by the days the pack lasts at your dog's weight.
A 90-chew pack at two chews a day lasts 45 days. At $32.97, that's $0.73 a day.
We checked each brand's US website on October 20, 2026.
Prices are before tax and shipping. Cost says nothing about how well a product works.
What's in FortiFlora and how you give it
FortiFlora is a powder sachet with one bacterial strain, Enterococcus faecium SF68.
A strain is a type within a microorganism species.
- 30 sachets of 1 g each
- 1 sachet daily, stirred into food, for any dog size
- Also available as tablets; this comparison prices the sachets
The flat dose gives the same $1.03 daily cost for a 25 lb dog and a 90 lb dog.
The strain has published research in dogs, including a 2017 study.
Daily cost alone does not describe that research.
What's in the other 5 and how you give them
CFU stands for colony-forming units. It counts live microorganisms that can grow into colonies, including bacteria and yeast.
Compare the amount per serving and how many servings your dog gets each day.
Prebiotic fiber is food for the microorganisms already in the gut.
Proviable-DC
Proviable-DC capsules contain 5 billion CFU and seven strains.
Directions call for one capsule daily at any size, opened over food.
We couldn't confirm a current price for the capsules, so they aren't priced here.
Zesty Paws Probiotic Bites
The 90-count pumpkin label lists 6 billion CFU per two chews and names three organisms.
Directions call for one chew up to 25 lb, two through 75 lb, and three above.
Native Pet Probiotic
A beef-flavored powder you scoop onto food, and a dose that follows your dog's weight.
Pet Honesty Digestive Probiotic Chews
A soft chew with a daily amount based on your dog's weight.
Advanced K9 Gut Restore
A daily 2 g sachet of probiotic and fiber, with a dose that follows your dog's weight.
- 10 billion CFU at the time of manufacture
- Includes the yeast Saccharomyces boulardii
- Psyllium husk, pumpkin, and slippery elm bark
- Dose: 1 to 4 sachets by weight
- 30 sachets, $44.99 up to 25 lb (S8)
It supports normal bowel function and healthy stool consistency, and helps maintain a balanced gut.
Start with half your dog's daily dose for 3 days, then the full dose for their weight.

Its first-lot test results are public, and our team can send the certificate for your lot.
FortiFlora cost per day vs the other five, side by side
| Product and pack | 15 lb | 50 lb | 60 lb | 80 lb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native Pet 30-scoop | $0.67 | $0.67 | $1.33 | $1.33 |
| Native Pet 60-scoop | $0.50 | $0.50 | $1.00 | $1.00 |
| Zesty pumpkin 90-chew | $0.37 | $0.73 | $0.73 | $1.10 |
| Pet Honesty duck 90-chew | $0.37 | $0.73 | $1.10 | $1.47 |
| FortiFlora Original | $1.03 | $1.03 | $1.03 | $1.03 |
| FortiFlora Plus | $1.13 | $1.13 | $1.13 | $1.13 |
| Plentum Gut Restore | $1.50 | $2.87 | $4.00 | $5.00 |
Daily amounts follow each label:
- Native Pet: one scoop up to 50 lb, two above
- Zesty Paws: one chew up to 25 lb, two to 75 lb, three above
- FortiFlora: one packet at any size
Bigger packs cost less per day. At 50 lb, Zesty's 270-chew pack is $0.64 a day, and its 50-chew pack is $1.00.
How we worked out the daily cost
- Find the daily amount for your dog's weight on the label.
- Divide the units in the pack by that amount to get the days it lasts.
- Divide the pack price by those days.
Worked example: an 80 lb dog on Pet Honesty duck chews
| Daily amount | 4 chews (one per 25 lb) |
|---|---|
| A 90-chew pack lasts | 22.5 days |
| Cost per day | $32.99 ÷ 22.5 = $1.47 |
| 30 days of use | $43.99 |
| Cash to cover 30 days | 2 packs, $65.98 |
You buy whole packs, so a month at checkout can cost more than 30 days of use.
What the two dosing styles mean for your money
| Dog weight | Sachets a day |
|---|---|
| Up to 25 lb | 1 sachet |
| 26 to 50 lb | 2 sachets |
| 51 to 75 lb | 3 sachets |
| Above 75 lb | 4 sachets |
Each size supplies 30 days at the listed dose. Larger sizes include more boxes.
At a fixed pack price, a flat daily dose costs the same for each dog size.
A larger daily dose uses the pack faster.
Compare the listed microorganisms, the amount per serving, and the daily directions.
A CFU total alone does not establish fit.
Every dog is different, so the pricier option is not automatically right for yours.
| Dog's weight | Sachets a day | One-time | Monthly plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 25 lb | 1 | $44.99 | $39.99 |
| 26 to 50 lb | 2 | $85.99 | $74.99 |
| 51 to 75 lb | 3 | $119.99 | $99.99 |
| Over 75 lb | 4 | $149.99 | $124.99 |
Microbiome Care has its own prices. It pairs a postbiotic with a prebiotic and has no live cultures.
| Dog's weight | Sachets a day | One-time | Monthly plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 20 lb | 1 | $34.99 | $29.99 |
| 20 to 50 lb | 2 | $66.48 | $45.99 |
| Above 50 lb | 3 | $97.62 | $65.00 |
Which format fits a fussy dog?
- If your dog is fussy, compare the available flavors and formats, then introduce one product at its own dose.
- If the loose stool started after antibiotics, read supporting your dog's gut after antibiotics first.
Chews and scoop tubs cost less at these pack prices. Larger packs can lower the daily cost.
Use each product’s weight-based directions in the table above.
FortiFlora and Proviable-DC specify one daily unit at any weight.
For mixing steps, see how to give a dog a powder supplement.

Can Gut Restore and Microbiome Care be used together?
Advanced K9 Gut Restore and Advanced K9 Microbiome Care can be given together every day.
- Add one supplement at a time.
- Start with half your dog's daily dose for 3 days, then the full dose for their weight.
- After a week on the full dose, add the second supplement the same way.
Change two bottles and the food in one weekend and you will not know what helped or what made the mess.
Questions owners ask
Is FortiFlora worth the money when another probiotic costs less per day?
Cost per day is the pack price divided by the days the pack lasts at your dog's weight.
Cost says nothing about how well a product works.
Our 30-day guarantee applies to Plentum orders.
What should I look for before I compare prices?
- Then see what a brand publishes about testing, as we do on our quality and testing page.
- Our dog probiotic comparison chart takes several of these products through ten criteria.
Check daily directions, units per pack, ingredients per unit, and testing information.
Convert the pack price to a daily price. Packs with different unit counts cover different periods.
FortiFlora did nothing for my dog. Is a different one worth trying?
- A different product may fit your routine, but its price or CFU count does not establish a better result.
- Follow the product's directions and record what you notice.
- If a change worries you, use the guidance in the final FAQ before trying another product.
Compare ingredients, directions, and daily cost before switching.
FortiFlora vs Proviable-DC: what's different?
FortiFlora Original names one organism. Proviable-DC capsules name seven strains.
Both are one serving a day at any size. The strains and serving style differ.
We couldn't confirm a current price for the capsules, so they aren't priced here.
When should I be worried?
